MUNCIE, Ind. — Color, texture, patterns and silhouette. These are all elements of fashion that the fashion industry studies club, or FISC, believes creates a cohesive outfit.
Through the Ball Bearings issue, The Elementals, students and on-campus clubs were tasked with breaking down their favorite things into elements. Built on the idea of sustainability and up-cycling, the club believes this issue of Ball Bearings was a perfect fit for them.
“We again, don't buy anything so this is all through like models who bring their own clothes. I don't really think we buy anything at all,” said FISC’s future president, Ivy Summerlot.
FISC was given eight pages highlighting both the club and the new sustainability fashion class. Not only will these pages help FISC get its name out there, it also lifts some work off Ball Bearings.
“I want to give a huge shoutout to FISC for not only taking on this project but going all in to make it their own,” explained Editor in Chief, Jessica Velez.
The main goal of the photo shoot was to create outfits with props and various materials to elevate the original piece of clothing. Although this concept and issue has many layers, it really can be summed up into one word.
“I love the word visionary,” said Velez. “I think that we are doing a lot of things that are kind of stepping out of our comfort zone and trying to think outside the box of not trying to replicate other things that we have done and instead try to have more unique experiences.”
Through this photoshoot for the Elementals Issue, FISC hopes to showcase sustainability and prove that style really comes from creativity and a whole lot of heart.
The Elementals issue will be printed on April 15, with a launch party following on April 17.
