MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State Baseball defeated Southern Indiana 5-4 thanks to a late inning comeback from the Cards.
The Cardinals spotted three in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the lead.
“I like the way the guys rebounded today, after we blew a game on Friday and then we were beaten twice on Saturday fair and square… and now you have to answer back,” Rich Maloney, head coach, said.
The Cardinals indeed did answer back, finding themselves down by three going into the late innings, the comeback kids did it again. Blake Bevis had two home runs on the day.
“I saw it (Baseball) well today, the coaching staff did a great job working with me today,” Bevis said.
Bevis and the Cardinals continue to fight to the very end, and Maloney explained that he appreciates the fight that the team has had.
“Blake Bevis got hot again… Clay Jacobs had a big hit, him and Houston King,” Maloney recalled how the Cardinals took the lead over the Screaming Eagles.
The Cardinals used these six games to clean up and polish their skills before they head to Akron to take on the Zips in conference play next weekend. First pitch for the series against the Zips is scheduled for 2 p.m. on March 28.
