Editor's Note: Xavier University is in Cincinnati, Ohio. Not Fort Wayne as the article originally stated.
According to an official source within Ball State Athletics, assistant men’s basketball coach Ben Botts has been relieved of his duties after six seasons with the Cardinals. Botts has been removed from the coaching staff on the team's official website.
Botts leaves the program following the second year that the team didn't make it to the MAC tournament.

Botts, a Muncie local, started his coaching career at Ball State in 2018 after coaching at Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio. “It’s really special to me, you know,” Botts said about his return to Muncie to the Daily News in 2015. “It would’ve been a special opportunity had it not been in Muncie, too. Getting the chance to work for coach Whitford and where this program is going, averaging 20 wins over the last three years … being in Muncie makes it even sweeter.”

On Friday, Ball State president Geoffrey Mearns commented about the move via X.
"Coach Botts is an outstanding young man—great character and impeccable integrity," Mearns said. "Over several years, he made many significant positive contributions to the program. I’m grateful for his service to our University, and Jennifer and I wish him and his family all the best."
