Muncie Central’s boys basketball shifts their attention to sectionals

Muncie Central reflects on the season as they plan for playoffs.

MUNCIE, Ind. — Tuesday evening was Senior Night for the Muncie Central Boy’s Basketball team as they lost 63-50 to county rival the Yorktown Tigers. The Bearcats look to prepare for the journey ahead as sectionals are approaching.

With only two games left of the regular season, the Bearcats plan to end it on a winning streak. Junior shooting guard Shemar Taylor expressed that he is ready to end this regular season on a good note.

“We need to get these two last dubs that will just bring more momentum for sectionals,” Taylor said.

To help the Bearcats understand what it takes to get to the next level for the postseason of Indiana high school basketball, junior power forward Terry Miles always refers the team to what head coach Justin Ullom teaches them about desire.

“Our coach just always says we got to be motivated, the coaches don't have to say anything if we play we play with we don't we don't,” Ullom said.

The Bearcats were given a challenge at the start of the year as most of the seniors from last year had graduated, but creating a genuine camaraderie amongst the players was not formidable at all.

Taylor explained all that had transpired this season did not measure close to the bond of the team.

“I'm proud of us coming around together because half of us were on junior varsity together with three or four of us from varsity, and then we have two or three freshmen come up so we all had to come in together,” Taylor said.
