Men's tennis faces Indiana rivals in home doubleheader

Over the weekend, Ball State men’s tennis team bounced back after 2 2 straight losses the previous weekend with a doubleheader sweep.

MUNCIE, Ind.- Over the weekend, the Ball State men’s tennis team bounced back after 2 2 straight losses the previous weekend with a doubleheader sweep.

In the first match against IU Indy, Ball State started off slowly, later securing a 5-2 win. The doubles match ended with two out of three in a tie. The team also dominated in singles.

Coach Richards praised the team’s resilience, saying that they bounced back from the losses.

 Regarding the losses, he said,

“Losing two is tough, but this win gives us momentum.”

Ball State dominated IU East in the second match, winning 7-0. The Cardinals came out swinging early, winning 6-1 in doubles matches.

Jacks Lancaster, a junior, also credited the team wins to resilience and said,“We just try to take it one game at a time and put the ball on the court. At the end of the game, if I can shake hands with the other team and me being the winner, then I’m happy.”

The sweep of the doubleheader marked a bounce back for Ball State. The team looks forward to conference play, and the Cardinals move west to San Diego for the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship, where they already carry a lot of momentum. Another big game the team has coming up is a doubles-only event at La Jolla Beach. They’ll face Villanova on March 2 to end their West Coast trip. Ball State looks to build on this streak as the season continues.
