MUNCIE, Ind. — Anybody who has been on Ball State's campus knows about the David Owsley Museum of Art, however, many might not know about all the information it can provide. Luckily, Ball State has a group of their very own art education students who know exactly how to use the space.
David Owsley Museum of Art is an art museum that holds a lot of Ball State’s culture and history. It is also an incredible learning opportunity for bright young minds. Art education major and student teacher Nora Eley, spoke all about her plans for the students.
“We’ve opened up an event to the community where students can come in, and art education can give a tour around the museum based on specific pieces we’ve chosen and researched,” Nora Eley said.
This is the first time the art education students majors have ever done anything like this, however, they’ve already planned another day to let in more students and show them a new way to interpret art.
Eley also started talking about the reason why it was so important to her and why she wanted to do it in the first place.
“When it was introduced to us it was so exciting because museum work is something I really love,” Eley said. “I really wanted to gain more museum tour experience, as well as one-on-one connection with the students within the museum space, which we hadn’t gotten to do before.”
The work done by these student teachers has brought youth into the DOMA as well as bringing art history to the youth.
If you are interested in getting a taste of art for yourself, you can stay posted on Ball State’s event calendar.
