Ball State women’s basketball continues their historic season

The Ball State women’s basketball team continues their dominant season as they are now 11-0 in the conference, which is a new program record.

MUNCIE, Ind. — The Ball State women’s basketball team continues their dominant season as they are now 11-0 in the conference, which is a new program record.

This record was previously set last year when the team was 10-0 in conference play.

When asked how his team accomplished this goal Head Coach Brady Sallee gave credit to his roster.

“It’s probably you know what every coach in any sport wishes they would fall into is just that group that just gets it and does it right,” said Sallee. “You can have fun with them, and we definitely got it, and I think you know we all understand the sense of urgency we have to play with right now.”

Ball State is on a 14 game win streak, which is currently the fifteenth-best record in NCAA women’s basketball. Sallee believes the depth of the team is a big reason for this streak.

“The heart of our roster is the depth of our roster,” said Sallee. “The way the group that is not playing is going about their business it’s a big reason we are able to be successful.

This team currently has six seniors who will be graduating this year. One of these players includes senior guard Madelyn Bischoff who has spent her entire career playing for the Cardinals.

Bischoff spoke on how she feels as she only has a handful of games left in Worthen Arena.

“It’s been super fun honestly, when I step back and actually think about it I get sad, but I mean, it's just us working harder and you know not to take anything for granted,” said Bischoff.

The team's next game will be versus James Madison who is currently on a four-game win streak as well as being the top-ranked team in their respective conference.

Coach Sallee spoke on the unique opportunity that Ball State has to verse a team out of conference this late into the season.

“We’ve got a team somewhere in the top sixty in the nat and they’ve got a team that is top fifty in the nat, so this will be a quad 1 or quad 2 win for one of us.”

Ball State will play James Madison on February 8th in Harrisonburg where the Cardinals will be looking to win and get into the National top 25.
