MUNCIE, Ind. – The Muncie Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) is committed to providing a safe haven for homeless animals, striving to reduce the growing number of pets on the streets despite challenging economic times.

As a no-kill shelter, ARF focuses on rehabilitating and rehoming animals through adoption, helping to give them a second chance at life.

With rising prices recently, it has become more difficult for many to care for their pets. This causes the homeless pet population to grow. Nicki Kirby, General Operations Manager at ARF, noted that the issue of stray animals in Muncie has persisted for years. She explains how the epidemic of homeless animals is human made and that they are “here because of us.”

Melissa, adoption coordinator, adds to this by stating “I think we owe it to [the animals].”

ARF offers several dedicated spaces for its animals, including the ‘Cat Shack’ for cats and ‘Jeff’s House’ for dogs, where animals are given the care and attention they need until they find their forever homes.

The community of Delaware County can help support ARF’s mission in a variety of ways, including fostering or adopting animals, as well as donating food, toys, litter, and other essentials. These contributions ensure that ARF can continue its work to care for homeless pets in our community.

For those interested in adopting, viewing pet profiles, success adoption stories, or learning how to help, more information is available on ARF’s Facebook page at @munciearf, and Instagram @munciearf.
