Delaware County high school sports weekly results from the week of Jan. 27 to February 1

Monday (Jan. 27)


Muncie Burris girls’ basketball traveled to Union to face off against the Rockets. The Owls fell in the contest 42-33. No stats could be found.

Tuesday (Jan. 28)


Daleville boys’ basketball traveled to Eastbrook to take on the Panthers. The Broncos fell in the matchup 56-52. No stats could be found.

Muncie Central girls’ basketball hosted conference rival Kokomo, and the Bearcats lost the contest 60-32. No stats could be found.

Yorktown girls’ basketball traveled to Greenfield-Central to take on the Cougars. The Tigers eked out a victory over their conference rival 57-55. Yorktown sophomore Olivia Conklin led the scoring with 23 points.

Delta boys’ basketball hit the road against Blackford and defeated the Bruins 63-42. No stats could be found.

Delta girls’ basketball hit the court at home against Monroe Central. However, the Eagles fell in the matchup 54-38. The navy and gold were led by junior Jillian Barr with 18 points.

Muncie Burris boys’ basketball hosted Southern Wells and earned their first victory of the year 46-40. The Owls were led with 20 points from senior Tyler Bennett.

Wapahani girls’ basketball hosted Lapel and fell in a tight game 38-31. No stats could be found.

Wednesday (Jan. 29)


Daleville girls’ basketball hit the court to face off against Elwood. The Broncos downed the Panthers 50-33. No stats could be found.

Muncie Central girls’ basketball hit the road to clash with county rival Muncie Burris. The Bearcats defeated the Owls 58-36. No stats could be found.

Cowan girls’ basketball clashed with county foe Wes-Del in a home matchup with the Warriors. The Blackhawks earned the win 79-45. For the black and yellow, senior Elizabeth Sizemore racked up 30 points to lead the way. Wes-Del was led by sophomore Caroline Caward with 17 points.

Thursday (Jan. 30)


Yorktown girls’ basketball clashed with New Palestine and got the road win 57-46. For the green and white, sophomores Olivia Conklin and Alexis Fields each notched 15 points.

Delta girls’ basketball faced off against Mt. Vernon in the regular season finale, but fell 55-52. No stats could be found.

Friday (Jan. 31)

Daleville boys’ basketball hit the road for a contest against Union and took the victory 86-32. No stats could be found.

Yorktown boys’ basketball took on New Palestine on the road in a conference matchup. The Tigers fell 90-61. The green and white were led by sophomore Mason Trammell with 14 points.

Daleville girls’ basketball traveled to Union to clash with the Rockets and took down the home team 52-26. No stats could be found.

Wes-Del boys’ basketball took on conference foe Randolph Southern. The Warriors came out on top in convincing fashion, winning 64-49. No stats could be found.

Muncie Burris boys’ basketball hit the court against conference rival Seton Catholic, but fell 77-43. The Owls were led by senior Gavin Mitchell with 16 points.

Saturday (Feb. 1)


Daleville boys’ basketball hosted county rival Muncie Burris. The Broncos came out on top winning by a score of 74-33. The Owls were led by sophomore Matthew Hardy with nine points. No stats could be found for Daleville.

Yorktown boys’ basketball faced off against Carroll in a home contest, but fell in a close game 39-36. No stats could be found.

Cowan boys’ basketball hosted conference foe Wes-Del and the Blackhawks took down the Warriors 60-52. No stats could be found.

The boys wrestling sectionals, hosted at Delta High School, contained Delta, Yorktown, Muncie Central, Cowan, Daleville, Wapahani and Wes-Del.

Yorktown: First Place (253.5)

The Tigers had 13 wrestlers advance to regionals. Corbin Buck (285-pounds), Wyatt Roach (215-pounds), Tom Dygard (190-pounds), Arell Sago (175-pounds), Brody Whiteman (157-pounds), Izaiah Hudson (150-pounds), Wyatt Hoppes (144-pounds), Tanner Eppard (138-pounds), Jayden Cline (132-pounds), Carter Gregory (126-pounds), Ben Bush (120-pounds), Brayden Williams (113-pounds) and Jackson Webb (106-pounds).

Delta: Second Place (226)


Nine wrestlers advanced to regionals for the Eagles with six of them, Kaeb Stebbins (175-pounds), Zeke Witter (150-pounds), Sam Mosier (132-pounds), Ayden Bollinger (120-pounds), Kaid Jackson (113-pounds) and Reed Wicker (106-pounds) winning their respective weight classes.

Wes-Del: Fourth Place (139)


For the Warriors, they had six wrestlers move on in the state tournament to regionals.
Luke Powers, Owen Lamb, Dallas Godby, Leo Davis, Zac Reno and Malachi DuBois

Cowan: Fifth Place (124)


The Blackhawks had five wrestlers advance to regionals. Kyler Coffey (132-pounds), Ashton Goney (138-pounds), Jacob Unger (144-pounds), Jackson Bradley (157-pounds) and Noah Modglin (165-pounds).

Muncie Central: Sixth Place (120)


Daleville: Seventh Place (61.5)


Wapahani: Eighth Place (36)
