The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather warning that will be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, to 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6. The forecast predicts snow and potentially hazardous driving conditions across the state of Indiana, including the Muncie area. It is predicted that the Muncie area may get around 6 inches of snow, as well as low temperatures and ice.

Students may return to campus residence halls starting at noon Saturday, Jan. 4. According to a Ball State Communication Center brief, "New students to Ball State housing should plan to check in between 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday or anytime after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Returning students may arrive back to the halls beginning at noon on Saturday."

However, the dining halls across campus will not be open Saturday. Woodworth Dining and North Dining will open at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, and Tom John’s Food Shop will open at 5:00 p.m. the same day.

A modified schedule for shuttle transportation on campus for this weekend can be found online.

According to the Communication Center, students should "always assume the university is open for regularly scheduled classes and business unless there is a notice of change to campus operations. In the rare event that winter weather leads to a campus closure of suspension of classes for all or part of the day, the University will notify you through the following channels:

  • bsu.edu: The University website is the official source for information about campus closures. It is updated as soon as new information becomes available.
