MUNCIE, Ind. — Students gathered at the on-campus Multicultural Center to host an event called Benny Buddies Snowman Building on Tuesday. At this event, students from many different backgrounds took the time to craft snowmen out of clay and soft fabric. There was a $50 gift card prize for the best snowman.
Along with building the snowmen, the students were offered free food and drinks during the event. There was also free music, which helped fuel the excitement at the event.
With the intent of spreading awareness for different people's backgrounds, International Student Success Coach Jonathan Hooker spoke about the importance of allowing students of various backgrounds to collaborate in this event.
“For all of our events, we try to incorporate some form of competition, problem-solving, collaboration, so I think it’s really cool to bring students of all backgrounds and cultures together in those situations and just see what happens,” said Hooker.
As the event ended, students could submit pictures of their snowman to Ball State’s Benny Link website for the opportunity to win a $50 gift card.
“It’s really cool to see the students just enjoy their time,” said Hooker. “I think it has really helped boost a sense of belonging amongst our international student population.”
