The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. Candidates will be chosen and the community can cast their votes.
Candidates will be announced every Monday with the voting closing on the following Tuesday at 5 p.m. The winner will be announced at a later time.

The Ball State Daily News is partnered with the Muncie Sports Commission for this program. This will help determine nominees for the end of the year award show next spring. Here are the Delaware County Athlete of the Week nominees from Monday, Jan. 20 to Saturday, Jan. 25.

Yorktown sophomore girls’ basketball player Alexis Fields: Fields scored 18 points, had six rebounds and recorded two blocks in the Tigers’ 20 point win over Frankton.
Delta junior girls’ basketball player Jillian Barr: Barr led the Eagles in their win over Jay County with 29 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and three steals.
Wapahani junior boys’ basketball player Camden Bell: Bell led the Raiders with 23 points in their 75-36 win over Randolph Southern.
Cowan junior boys’ basketball player Luke Garrett: Garrett notched 30 points for the Blackhawks in their win over Muncie Burris.
Burris junior girls’ basketball player Sydney Jackson: Jackson led the Owls with 22 points in their 41-29 win over Liberty Christian.
