Campus-wide Wi-Fi and power outages were reported across Ball State's campus at approximately 1:40 p.m. and 3:08 p.m. Nov. 3. The Ball State Daily News reached out to University Content and Media Strategy Manager Andrew Walker for comment.
Walker, via Larry Blake, interim associate vice president for facilities planning and management for the university, provided this statement.
"A squirrel made contact with two electrical connections on a power pole and tripped devices which protect the electrical transformer, shutting down power to the north half of campus. Power was restored within about 30 minutes by switching to the second electrical transformer at the Bethel Substation. Fortunately, the affected electrical transformer started Tuesday morning without issue."
