Donald Trump won the U.S. presidency by 312 electoral votes while Vice President Kamala Harris fell behind with 226, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States, a comeback for a former president who served from 2016 to 2020 and lost office to President Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential Election. Since his presidency, Trump was convicted of felony charges and survived two assassination attempts, according to AP.
Beyond the presidential election, Republicans now have control of the U.S. Senate, flipping Democratic-held seats, remaining in GOP incumbent positions and taking the majority for the first time in four years. As of right now, the House is still "up for grabs," according to AP.
Trump won Indiana in a call made by AP Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. Mike Braun (R) was also called as Indiana governor around the same time.
Even as final election results are still being tallied, the House and Senate leadership is pushing ahead toward a second-term Trump White House and what he’s called a mandate for governing, with mass deportations, industry deregulation and wholesale reductions in the federal government.
Trump is already testing the norms of governance during this presidential transition period — telling the Senate to forgo its advise-and-consent role and simply accept his Cabinet nominees — and he has started staffing his administration, according to AP.

According to the Delaware County General Election Results for 2024, 44,229 people cast a ballot in Delaware County, even with 76,488 registered voters in the county. Compared to the 2020 Election Summary Report, there were 4,609 less voters and 7,173 less registered voters for this year's election in Delaware County.
Looking at Indiana as a whole, General Election Turnout and Registration in 2022 showed that while nearly 4.8 million Hoosiers registered to vote in the election, only about 1.9 million cast a ballot.
As of this time, 99 percent of Indiana's ballots have been counted. 1,711,713 ballots have been cast in favor of Trump while 1,158,650 were cast for the Harris/Walz ticket. 49,551 votes were cast for other party candidates.
