Biden admin requesting $100 billion for disaster relief

The Biden administration is urging Congress to pass a massive disaster relief spending bill.

The Biden administration is requesting Congress to pass a costly disaster relief spending bill.

Close to half of the roughly $100 billion requested will go to FEMA’s disaster relief fund.

The requested bill includes funding not only for victims but for other agencies, including the Departments of Agriculture, Transportation and the Small Business Administration.

Biden’s request comes as Americans in the Southeast are still cleaning up from the major back-to-back hurricanes Helene and Milton.

It is now up to Congressional leadership to decide whether to adopt the request as a stand-alone bill or paired with the end-of-year spending bill.
