Madison-Grant Football keeps winning streak alive

The Argylls huddle up during a 1st quarter timeout vs. Alexandria.

FAIRMOUNT, Ind. In the fall of 2017, the Madison-Grant Argyll football team finished with a 0-10 record. They only scored 44 points all season while yielding over 50 points per game. In 2024, the roles are reversed.

The Argylls are undefeated going into week 9 for the first time since 1996. They are also tied for first place in the Central Indiana Conference with the 3A powerhouse Mississinewa Indians, who are unbeaten.

Through his seven-year tenure as head coach, Brady Turner has transformed a struggling Madison-Grant Football program into the fourth-ranked team in class 1A. The team has a powerful rushing attack that scores over 45 points a game.

Their power was on full display Friday night, running for seven touchdowns and five 2-point conversions as they steamrolled the Alexandria Tigers 62-17. Four of the seven touchdowns were scored by Junior fullback Rosin White.

“They keyed in on our main running back, Cole Stitt,” said White. “It kind of opens the box, so I trust my o-linemen, coach trusts them, and penetrating through the middle is killing them.”

Brady Turner solidified his legacy with Friday's win as he became the winningest coach in Madison-Grant history.

“Coming out here as a young kid watching Coach Zgunda win all those games, watching how he did it. It means a lot to do it with the coaching staff I did it with,” said Brady Turner, who was also excited about the opportunity to play for a conference title to end the season.

“We’re the smallest school in the conference; going against a team like Mississinewa is gonna be a challenge, but it will mean a lot for us,” said Turner.

The Argylls will host the Mississinewa, as mentioned earlier, Indians Friday night, with an outright conference championship on the line.
