MUNCIE, Ind. — Epsilon Sigma Alpha is an international organization founded in 1989. Ball State University has the first collegiate chapter. The organization's mission is to be a family where students can give back to the community.
ESA president Haley Spurgeon said, “I just saw a need for this organization to be given to more people and advertised more.”
ESA currently has ten members, but it consistently recruits to grow its family. For one of its events this year, it chose to go to the local Jacob’s Family Orchard, which has become a yearly tradition. It holds events like this to get away from the stress that school and life can cause. It aims to build a bond between its members and let go of the stress that college can cause.
Emma Voors, the philanthropy chair, said, “It was a really great way for me to get involved in the community and do community service and make friendships.”
ESA is not only giving back to the community but also giving back to each other.
“I just feel like I saw a hope for this, and like it’s just such a beautiful thing to do community service and help everybody,” said Haley Spurgeon.
ESA’s next event is a cooking night this Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Park Hall.
