Yorktown sees victory over the Delta Eagles

Yorktown defies the odds in victory over the Delta Eagles.

YORKTOWN, Ind. — Yorktown took on the undefeated Delta Eagles this past Friday night, and the game lived up to the hype.

Yorktown entered the game with a 2-1 record and was coming off a tough 41-13 loss to New Palestine. They were determined to turn things around. They started strong, taking an early 14-0 lead.

Coach Mike Wilhelm commented, “We challenged their manhunt this week. It wasn’t about yelling and screaming over the New Palestine game. It was more about if you will talk it, you better walk it.”

And Yorktown did just that. Their defense was stellar, effectively stopping Delta’s run game and securing an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

Delta managed to gain some ground in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late. Yorktown secured the win with a final score of 28-14.

Coach Mike Wilhelm reflected, “Tonight we played like we wanted to be real men on the field, almost like adult football. The way our guys performed was impressive. We learned from our previous loss and came back stronger than I expected.”

Despite entering the game as the underdog, Yorktown proved themselves as the top team in the county.

Coach Mike Wilhelm added, “It’s a great atmosphere for both teams and the fans. This is a Yorktown football win, but it’s really a Yorktown win for the entire community.”

Yorktown heads to Newcastle, aiming to add another victory to their record on September 20th.
