The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. Candidates will be chosen and the community can cast their votes.
Candidates will be announced every Sunday with the voting closing on the following Monday at 5 p.m. The winner will be announced the next day. Here are your nominees for athlete of the week from Monday, Aug. 26 to Saturday, Aug. 31.
Delta senior football player Nolan Carpenter: In the Eagles' 35-0 win over Norwell, Carpenter had eight rushes for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Wapahani senior golfer Delaney Dodd: In the Mid-Eastern Conference Tournament, Dodd won the individual title after shooting an 84 and playing three playoff holes.
Yorktown sophomore football player Sam Tokar: In Yorktown's 30-14 win over Muncie Central, Tokar went 12-for-16 with 80 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Burris senior volleyball player Lilly Howell: In the Owls 3-0 win over Cowan, Howell led the blue and white with 17 kills.
