A tightly contested match resulted in a Ball State Cardinal loss, with the deciding and lone goal coming in the 74th minute.
The Cardinals out-shot Kent State, yet were unable to score during the match. Ball State also had six corner kicks, compared to one for Kent State.
The Cardinals are set to face Akron, Sept. 26 on the road at 7 p.m.
