Ball State soccer earned its second loss on the season after a 3-0 defeat at Butler. The loss marks the Cardinal's first time being shutout on the season.
Ball State had seven shots total throughout the match and had 11 fouls, tying its season-high.
Defenders sophomore Audrey Goodyear, redshirt sophomore Delaney Ahearn and senior Maya Millis each played a full 90 minutes. Junior defender Arcadia Murphy played 82 minutes. Just like the prior two games to start the season, head coach Josh Rife opted to play a different goalie each half of play.
Junior Grace Konopatzki got the starting nod, picking up two saves and allowing one goal in the first half. Freshman Kate Pallante was subbed in for the second half and allowed two goals, while picking up one save.
Last season, Butler beat the Cardinals in a similar fashion, walking away with a 4-0 victory. In a matchup the year prior to last, the Bulldogs and Cardinals tied 2-2.
Ball State remains on the road to face Michigan this Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m.
