The Ball State Student Government Association (SGA) began their meeting with a presentation from a special guest, SGA Sen. Shaina Miller.

Miller shared information on how students could participate in the 500 Festival Princess Program. This program offers partial scholarships to selected ‘princesses’ and allows them to partake in the 500 Festival Leadership Development Program.

Additionally, Miller discussed the 500 Festival Volunteer Program and how students could get involved. Volunteering to help with the program can help each SGA senator fulfill their service hour requirement.

Special orders of business began with a presentation from Justice applicant Paige Hall. As the former Secretary and Current Treasurer of the Mock Trial Association at Ball State, Hall believes she’s qualified for the position since she has previously worked as a criminal defense attorney.

“I am interested in adjudication and would love to gain more experience in this realm,” Hall said.

Hall was approved on a vote of 33-1 with two abstentions.

Treasurer Isaac Ledford suggested a budget reallocation, asking for more money to be put towards Health, Promotion and Advocacy initiatives due to the plethora of sexual assault awareness events SGA is supporting that are taking place in April.

The budget reallocation was approved on a vote of 32-2 with two abstentions.

During the meeting, three new budget requests were presented.

The first request aimed to secure funds for buying various items such as chocolate gold coins, green beaded necklaces, goodie bags, and stickers. These items were planned to be given away at the Scramble Light during the services Saint Patrick's Day Event, scheduled for March 14.

This request was approved by a vote of 35-0, with one abstention.

The at-large caucus made a second budget request to fund two candy bags. The candy will be used at the Atrium tabling event on March
