MUNCIE, Ind. — The Ball State Student Government Association, known as SGA, took stage on Wednesday at the Student Center for their annual introduction to the tickets debate. The debate covered many issues and brought to light to the views and plans of the two tickets running.
The first ticket, featuring presidential nominee, Samuel P. Adams, and vice presidential nominee, Angel Esquivel Vazquez, made up the 'Adams and Angel' ticket. The second ticket, featuring presidential nominee, Noah Poole, and vice presidential nominee, Brenna Large, made up the 'Elevate' ticket.
Both sides talked about the importance of listening to the students' needs on Ball State's campus. One of the key platform points for both tickets revolves around student support and involvement.
Large, from the 'Elevated' ticket, said, “We are going to continue to really check in with the student body, and see what they want. Although we have a platform that we have set, that does not mean there is no room to change and add on more advantages that student’s have.”
Adams from the 'Adams and Angel' ticket, explained their view on student recognition as well.
“What we have made has been focused entirely on suggestions and questions brought to us by the student body,” Adams said.
The candidates are preparing for the upcoming presidential and vice presidential debates on Feb. 14 and 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center. Students can look forward to hearing more about the tickets' stances and plans.
Voting polls open on Feb. 19 at 8:00 a.m. and close on Feb. 20 at 5:00 p.m. online, according to the SGA website.
