Wes-Del junior boys’ basketball player Josiah Love was voted the Daily News Athlete of the Week from the week of 2/14-2/21.
“[The community support] is really important,” Love said. “...They always get us hyped.”
During that week, Love led the Warriors with 21 points in their 56-50 win over Burris. In tonight’s sectional opener, Wes-Del will face Burris once again. To Love, there is only one thing the black and maroon need to have in order to win.
“Everyone playing as a team,” he said. “We got to play together and not worry about ourselves. We’re not there to win for ourselves.”
The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. A candidate from each school will be chosen and the community can vote for the winner.
Candidates will be announced every Wednesday with the voting closing on the following Saturday at 5 p.m. If you believe a certain student-athlete should be your school’s candidate, email the Daily News high school sports reporter Zach Carter at zachary.carter@bsu.edu.
