Wapahani senior basketball player Isaac Andrews was voted the Daily News Athlete of the Week from the week of 1/3-1/10.
“When the community is always supporting, it’s a big factor for us as a team,” he said. You want to go out every night and play even harder.”
During that week, Andrews scored 17 points in a win over Eastern Hancock and had 20 in a win over Cowan. Andrews leads the Raiders with 24.8 points per game.
[The success comes from] leading our guys and playing hard,” Andrews said. “We didn't have the turnout we wanted in the [Delaware] county tournament. But I think we've learned from it and had a couple really good practices [since then].”
The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. A candidate from each school will be chosen and the community can vote for the winner.
Candidates will be announced every Wednesday with the voting closing on the following Saturday at 5 p.m. If you believe a certain student-athlete should be your school’s candidate, email the Daily News high school sports reporter Zach Carter at zachary.carter@bsu.edu.
