Yorktown senior basketball player Jacob Grim was voted the Daily News Athlete of the Week from the week of 1/10-1/17.
“It means a lot to get that from the community and to know that they see what our team can do,” Grim said via text.
During that week, Grim led the Tigers with 18 points in the Delaware County championship game. That aided the Tigers in winning the title.
“We have to keep playing as a team and moving the ball as we did [then]” Grim said. “We were getting great shots every time down the floor because we moved the ball so well. We need to keep playing the team defense that we played as we held the teams to around 40 [points] and that was a key factor in winning.”
The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. A candidate from each school will be chosen and the community can vote for the winner.
Candidates will be announced every Wednesday with the voting closing on the following Saturday at 5 p.m. If you believe a certain student-athlete should be your school’s candidate, email the Daily News high school sports reporter Zach Carter at zachary.carter@bsu.edu.
