Rosebud Coffee House opened its doors in the Thomas Park/Avondale neighborhood in early December 2020. Owner Tiara Hicks wanted to covert an old bank branch building to create a safe and welcoming environment for the community to hang out and work.
“It was all about breaking down barriers,” Hicks said. “I wanted to be a part of the comfort and the feel. I wanted you to come in and not be intimidated.”
There are two meeting spaces in the coffee house. One is inside the old bank vault of the café; you can sign up to use either. Free WIFI also is available to customers. Rosebud was named after Hicks’ grandfather and the rose theme followed after that.
“Rosebud was my grandfather’s nickname and my grandpa passed away six or seven years a go, and he was the one who really instilled hospitality and an open door, always inviting someone in,” she said.
Rosebud, 1805 S. Hoyt Ave., Muncie, is open 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The menu includes a unique blend of coffee and organic teas, pastries, cookies, and breakfast treats.

Secondly, he is simply a mountainous man. 6 foot 9, with more than enough weight to play as a nose tackle in the NFL, he will be the first to admit that he is an intimidating person when you first see him. Having that size greatly helps him in his work as a security guard.
