Below are highlights and results from the past week’s Delaware County sporting events that those on the Daily News Sports Team were unable to attend.
Monday (September 25)
Delta volleyball defeated Shelbyville3-0. Senior Emily Reno had ten kills and five blocks. Junior Addie Phillippe had seven kills, three blocks, four aces, four digs, and twelve assists.
Delta boys tennis fell to Mt. Vernon 4-1 on senior night. The No.1 doubles’ players, seniors Dalton Royal and Preston Shanayda, were the only Eagles to gain a victory.
Muncie Central volleyball fell to Greenfield-Central 3-0. Senior Renee Voss, senior Jillian Kimmel, and sophomore Calvionna Jefferson each had three kills.
Tuesday (September 26)
Delta volleyball fell to Hamilton Heights 3-0. Phillippe had 13 kills, 5 digs, 8 assists, and 1 ace.
Yorktown volleyball defeated New Palestine 3-0. Senior Charlotte Vinson led the Tigers with 19 kills.
Wapahani volleyball defeated Union 3-0. Junior Sophia Beeson led the Raiders with 10 kills.
Daleville volleyball defeated Eastern Hancock 3-0. Junior Trishell Johnson led with 18 kills.
Cowan volleyball fell to Shenandoah 3-2. Senior Maycie Martin led the Blackhawks nine assists.
Wes-Del volleyball defeated Eastbrook 3-0. No stats from the match could be found.
Muncie Central volleyball defeated Anderson 3-0. Jefferson led the Bearcats with 11 kills.
Wednesday (September 27)
Delta girls soccer defeated Centerville 5-1. Junior Sarah Bohanon led the team with two goals.
Wes-Del volleyball defeated Randolph Southern 3-0. No stats from the match could be found.
Muncie Central boys soccer defeated Delta 6-1. Senior Finn Gruver led the Bearcats with three goals.
Thursday (September 28)
Delta boys tennis defeated Burris 5-0 in the first round of sectionals. The Eagles only gave up two matches to the Owls.
Yorktown boys tennis defeated Muncie Central 5-0 in the first round of sectionals. Stats for the match could not be found.
Burris volleyball fell to New Castle 3-0. No stats from the match could be found.
Friday (September 29)
Delta football fell to Pendleton Heights 28-23. The Eagles led 17-6, but the Arabians proved to be too much. Junior quarterback Bronson Edwards went 9-for-14 with 106 passing yards and 2 touchdown passes. Senior Kaiden Bond had 78 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.
Muncie Central football defeated Marion 46-36. Senior quarterback Leo Boyd went 7-for-15 with 221 passing yards and 3 touchdown passes. On the ground, he had 159 rushing yards which included a 60 yard run. He also had one rushing touchdown.
Saturday (September 30)
Muncie Central volleyball competed at the Southwood Tournament. The Bearcats defeated Marion 2-0 for their only win of the day. In that match, sophomore Chloe Miller led with six kills .
