MUNCIE, Ind.--- Camryn Wise is no stranger to Worthen Arena. She grew up there.
“I’ve grown up coming to Worthen...watching a bunch of sports teams, and I knew when I was little this is where I wanted to be.”
Wise went to high school in Wapahani, around 20 minutes from Ball State's campus. As the people of Delaware county know, if you live in this area, you’re involved with volleyball in one way or another.
“Munciana was a huge part of my journey and just falling in love with the sport," Wise said.
The goal she had her eyes on was never a secret. Wise was a four-year letter winner for the Wapahani Raiders and was a part of their state championship runner up teams during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, along with their state championship winning team as a senior in 2022.
The three state championship appearances isn’t all she has under her belt, though, as she led the Raiders to a 117-22 record during her time there. She was also awarded to first team all-state as a sophmore and junior year in high school.
Wise credits playing in those championship games with helping her playing on big stages, such as the MAC.
“Being on that stage, I didn’t take it for granted and just grateful for it, and it’s obviously helped me and put me in this position," Wise said.
Wise left a mark on her high school, she’s looking to do the same here at Ball State.
