Ball State's long rivalry with Miami continues to brew as they fall to the RedHawks, 5-1. This loss drops their record to 7-10 and their Mid-American Conference (MAC) record to 2-5.

Miami continued their now 21-game win streak against Ball State, as they have won every match between the two universities since Thursday, November 3rd, 2011.

Miami came out strong offensively, pressuring Ball State the entirety of the first quarter. The Red Hawks had seven shots on target and three corners, getting their first goal of the outing with nine seconds left to go in the quarter.

The RedHawks added four more on-target shots and four more corners. In the 12th minute, the RedHawks chipped in their second goal of the night. By halftime, Ball State had yet to even attempt a shot and was trailing 2-0.

Eight minutes in, Ball State cut the lead to one off a goal from graduate student midfielder, Kerrianne McClay.

This momentum was short-lived as Miami answered fast, scoring another goal a minute and a half later.

As the fourth quarter unfolded, Ball State was unable to find the back of the net. Miami on the other hand, chipped in two more of their own goals, as the Cardinals' hope for a comeback ended. Overall, the Cardinals were outshot (3-18) and had a significantly lower number of corners (1-11).

Senior goalkeeper Hannah Johnston made 13 saves on the night and prevented the Miami lead from growing much larger. In front of her, senior defender Jessica Rochat played the full 60 minutes for the Cardinals.

Ball State will travel to East Lansing, MI, to play their final match of the season Sunday, October 29th at 1 p.m. against Michigan State University.
