MUNCIE, Ind. --- After a defeat in Indianapolis by Butler, Coach Josh Rife and the Ball state women's soccer team looks to get in the winning column with a win at home against the Miami of Ohio Redhawks.
The Cardinals started the game off with a goal by their star forward, Avery Fenchel. Then, the Cards opened up the second half with another quick strike to go up 2-0. However Miami of Ohio would strike back with a score of their own to cut the game to a one goal game.
"We went up two goals which was great, however Miami did a great job scoring to bring the game back," Rife said.
Yet, the lady Cardinals were not phased. Coach Rife was pleased with his players saying, “there wasn’t a lot of panic for us in those moments."
Then at the 73 minute mark, freshman Annuka Klauss effectively put the game away with her first career goal putting the Cardinals up 3-1.
As the Cardinals get the first win of the season in conference play, they look for Coach Rife and his staff to lean on the leadership and veteran play of his upperclassmen players the rest of the way.
“I will not make one pass and I will not shoot one goal. It falls squarely on the players," Rife said.
