MUNCIE, INDIANA---The Muncie Animal Care and Service Dog is looking for his forever home. The dog Cristo has been in the Muncie shelter for 342 days.
Before being found in Tuhey park, he was living in another shelter outside of Muncie. The shelter is at max capacity and is struggling to make room for them all.
Muncie’s lead dog tech, Aubrey Showalter has worked with Cristo during his time at the care facility.
“A family tried to adopt Cristo once but returned him because they said they weren’t ready for a dog yet,” Showalter said.
Cristo has been in and out of shelters his whole life and is in need of a loving home that can give him the love he deserves. Cristo is a 2-year-old, 52-pound, terrier mix. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and house broken.
Bob Walsh, Muncie Optimist Club’s president, spoke about Cristo and the work the club has been doing revolving around him.
“We have fifty members apart of our club and we have a lot of fun,” Walsh said. “They are working hard to make a difference in our youth, and they are enjoying it. He is an extraordinary male dog that loves to play, run, and be loved on.”
Cristo is already sponsored which means hopeful owners would not have to pay for him.
If you are interested in finding more information on Cristo and how to adopt him, you can call the Animal Care and Services phone at 765-747-4851 or reach out to them on their public Facebook page.
