MUNCIE, Ind.--- A new coffee shop is set to open this Friday in Muncie. Two brothers, Derek and Jeffery Jessup, own the shop together.
The new store has been in the works since last November. The wood design is a takeaway from Jeffery’s logging company. The siblings also own a farm where they will get many of their ingredients.
“We actually have our own herd of cows and pigs. That way we can keep supplying the shop,” Derek said.
Derek said Tall Timber Coffee’s menu is farm-to-fork, which sets them apart from other coffee shops. Additionally, 70-80% of their syrups are homemade.
Andrew Harvey, the main cook for Tall Timber Coffee, said he has always had a passion for cooking. However, he didn’t always work in the food industry.
“I left a union job at a glass factory to come do this. One, because I love cooking and two, because I’ve got total faith in both these guys,” Harvey said.
Since the dream came alive last November, Derek and his team have analyzed traffic to find the busiest times in the day to be open, coordinated with contractors, renovated the inside of the building, curated a menu and more.
Harvey is most excited for people to try the Hardwood PB&B Burger. Many of the names on the menu highlight the background of the owners, tying in Jeffery’s logging business.
Derek is excited to create a new community in Muncie.
“I really want to get it to where when you walk in this door we know you, we know your order. The whole idea here is we want to make everyone’s day a lot better than before they walked in the building,” Derek said.
Once the coffee shop opens on Friday, it will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. On weekends, the shop will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.
The store is located at 5511 East Jackson St.
