MUNCIE, Ind.--- The Beeman Collection at Ball State plans on several new displays in the next month, ranging from Veterans Day to Election Day.
“We change those [displays] out about every month,” said Kate West, one of three Beeman Assistants. “We keep up with different events and themes throughout the year.”
The Beeman Collection hopes to spread awareness of their collection and heritage through their new displays, as well as reminding people of different cultural events.
Displays of Beeman Collection items can be found all around campus, including the Art and Journalism Building, the Miller College of Business, the Applied Technology Building and the Bracken Library.
“We have things from military wear, beautiful gowns, evening gowns, things like that,” West said.
One of the most recent displays from the Beeman Collection is for Breast Cancer Awareness, containing a pink dress. This can currently be seen on the first floor of Bracken Library.
The Beeman Collection was originally started after a donation by Mary Beeman. The collection contains clothing dating back to the 1700s, although those items are not typically displayed due to their fragile nature.
Displays are changed monthly, typically corresponding to either holidays or other important cultural events.
“Keep an eye out for all those amazing things that you will see in displays,” West said.
