Three goals in under seven minutes. The stands echo the scream of celebrating fans.  The team on their feet, jumping with adrenaline.

Third-year midfielder Maria Broering sat down with her team for breakfast before hitting the road around 1 p.m. Little did she know, she would score her first collegiate goal finalizing the score as Ball State defeated Toledo 6-2.

First-year forwards, Delaney Caldwell and Emily Roper both scored their second goals of the season while third-year midfielder Avery Fenchel scored her ninth and tenth goals this season.

“I'm all for any type of goal, whether they're kind of scrappy goals in the box, whether they're from distance,” head Coach Josh Rife said.

The Rockets responded with two goals by graduate student forward Morgan Otteson assisted by second-year midfielder, Olivia Dult and second-year forward, Mia Leonetti respectively.

Although the Cardinals are off to a fast start in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) with four wins and one draw, “winning is not easy, we need to stay in the moment,” Rife said.

Ball State plays on its home field Sunday, Oct. 9 against Western Michigan at 1 p.m.
