Ball State (5-5, 2-1 MAC) closed out a weekend trip to Michigan with a 7-0 loss to No. 8 University of Michigan.
Compared to the the game against Central Michigan the night before, Junior Goalkeeper Hannah Johnston (#52) had more than three times as many saves against the Wolverines than the Chippewas.
When it came to Central Michigan, she only had four saves throughout the whole game, while playing against Michigan, she had 17 saves.
We were able to see how fourth-year midfielder/defender Kerrianne McClay was one of the only players that were able to make a shot on the goal attempt throughout the game. McClay was able to push and get past the Michigan team and make an attempted shot, but it was to no avail and was one of the only attempts made by Ball State.
Against Chippewas, McClay was able to show off her skills and had 5 shots on goal and 1 attempt. The Cardinals defeated Central Michigan 4-3 in double overtime.
Multiple Cardinals, especially freshman and sophomores, made new appearances during the road trip to the mitten state. Mainly first-year forward/midfielder Maddie Summit, first-year midfielder Emma Van Hal and first-year forward Christine Ditizio. They each averaged about 15 minutes of playing time.
The Cardinals head home to Muncie, Indiana for their next matchup to take on Ohio University Oct. 7 at 1 p.m.
