MUNCIE, Ind.---If you’re searching for a job, local employers are hiring. On Oct. 5, Muncie hosted its annual job fair at the Muncie Mall.
The job fair is intended to grant opportunities and help strengthen employment skills for those looking for a job. Over 65 employers gathered on-site looking to interview and potentially hire.
Several Delaware County and retail employers, along with community resource agencies, gave tips on job searching. One retail employer, Amber Anthony, shared her opinion on the kind of attitude a person needs to have when seeking a job.
“I think you have to have an open mind. You have to be determined that you’re going to leave with some kind of opportunity and be positive,” Anthony said. “Be eager to work. I don’t think it’ll be that hard to get a job as long as you keep that positive mindset.”
Anthony is the services manager at ULTA Beauty. She believes that it is her passion and styling hair is how she features that passion. She has worked at ULTA for three years, been a licensed cosmetologist for 14 years and a part-time stylist for two years. Anthony expressed why she made the decision to come to the job fair.
“I came out here because I do have a hiring need for cosmetologists to work in my salon full-time or part-time and I’m also hiring other positions such as tasking, beauty advisors, cashiers for seasonal help,” Anthony said.
Anthony also shared why an event like this is important, especially for the surrounding area.
“For the community, it’s a good thing. It turned out really nice. A lot of people came out here, but do not have jobs, so this is just one way to get the word out, we’re hiring,” Anthony said.
While this job fair opportunity is up, five more will be hosted in neighboring communities within the next week. You can visit the Indiana Department of Workplace Development website for more.
