MUNCIE, Ind.--- Foister’s Flowers held their sixth annual “Petal It Forward” event Wednesday, allowing for their first 200 visitors to receive two free bouquets of flowers.
“Our desired outcome would be that we make people smile,” Sharon Grubbs, owner of Foister’s Flowers and Gifts said. “We give back to the people of the community, then they can give something back to somebody else.”
By encouraging others to give away flowers, they were able to spread happiness throughout the community in their own unique way.
Although open inside from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., most visitors came during their drive-through hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Each bouquet of flowers contained a carnation, daisy, alstroemeria, solidago and fern. In total, Foister’s handed out between 1600 and 2000 flowers by the end of the day.
Through this event, they hoped to provide guests with a sense of cheeriness and glee. In that regard, they successfully accomplished their goal. According to the owners, public response was positive across the board, especially in one certain case.
“There were some people who had just come from cancer treatment,” Grubbs said. “It just made their day to get their flowers.”
