Did you know Ball State offers free legal help to all currently enrolled Ball State students and campus organizations? You can schedule a meeting for a consultation or visit the office for brochures that describe the number of services you can use. Make sure you know your rights before you sign a lease, start a new job or run into trouble with the law.

What can Student Legal Services (SLS) help you with?

The lawyers SLS can aid you in all areas of civil law including employment, landlord/tenant, real estate, even traffic tickets. They can also provide you with the necessary legal reference materials for leases, roommate agreements, and other legal documents. In, hopefully, rarer cases, they can provide assistance in cases of criminal justice.

How can SLS help you?

SLS can provide you with the information necessary to defend your rights, starting with preventative education and counseling to equip students with the knowledge necessary to understand their legal rights as well as resolve their issues. The Legal Resource Center will also provide legal information in relation to a student’s questions. In more serious situations, SLS can provide a referral to an appropriate private attorney based on their situation.
