Delta High School's Southerland successful at the 2022 Girls' Track & Field State Finals 2022

In the 2022 Girls' Track & Field State Finals June 3 in Bloomington, Indiana, Delta High School sophomore Nicki Southerland competed in two events, finishing in the top two in each.

In the Girls 3200 Meter Run, Southerland finished in first place with a time of 10:22.82. Southerland's time improved from her time at the previous week's Regionals event (10:23.96).

With this win, Southerland is the State Champion in the Girls 3200 Meter Run.

In the Girls' 1600 Meter Run, Southerland finished in second place with a time of 4:43.99, improving on her score from Regionals (4:48.72). The winner of this event, Huntington North senior Addison Wiley finished with a time of 4:38.69, setting a new State Record for the event.

In total at the Girls' Track & Field State Finals, Delta scored 15 points, tying for 15th out of 57.
