Ball State's 2022 schedule is set after the Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced its schedule Feb. 25.
The Cardinals open conference play Sept. 10 against Western Michigan in Scheumann Stadium. The Cardinals defeated the Broncos 45-20 Oct. 9, 2021 and have won two consecutive games in the series.
In its first conference road game, Ball State travels to Central Michigan Oct. 8. The Chippewas defeated the Cardinals 37-17 Nov. 17, 2021.
The Cardinals host Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Ohio for the rest of their home conference games. Ball State lost against the Huskies 30-29 Nov. 10, 2021, and beat the Eagles 38-31 Oct. 16, 2021. The Cardinals have not played the Bobcats since the 2018 season.
The other three road contests for the Cardinals include Kent State, Toledo and Miami (Ohio). Ball State fell to Toledo 22-12 Sept.12, 2021, and Miami (Ohio) 24-17 Oct. 23, 2021. The Cardinals have not played Kent State since the 2018 season.

In addition to its eight conference games, Ball State plays four non-conference opponents, including its season-opener against Tennesee Sept. 3. The Cardinals host Murray State Sept. 17 and Connecticut Oct. 15, while they travel to Georgia Southern Sept. 24.
Ball State has an opportunity to make its third consecutive bowl appearance in 2022, which would be the first time in program history.
