Muncie (IND.) - Cardinal Closet will return next Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. It will be located in the eastern tunnel by Park Hall.
Cardinal Closet is sponsored by the Student Action Team (SAT) to provide students with free professional clothing for interviews, job fairs and other events. Students are allowed to take up to six free items.
“College is a time of change and this is just a place for whoever may need it,” Sydney Cole, SAT President said. “They have an opportunity to dress and look successful.”
SAT is one of the four housing organizations at Ball State. During the year, they host different community events in the Muncie community such as food drives and blood drives. Housing organizations differ from regular student organizations because they are centered around the residence halls on campus.
“We provide service and awareness events on campus for the individuals who live here as well as those in the Muncie community,” Cole said.
Clothing is donated by alumni and staff. Recently the organization was given a grant to purchase other necessities for the closet such as new clothing and racks. Items that are not used are given back to the community through Attic Window and Good WIll.
It is requested that donated clothing is washed and dry cleaned before they are given away.
Open hours happen three times a semester, but students are welcome to schedule private appointments through Benny Link.
“Our representatives from the different halls they are so passionate, and they are so hardworking with what they do. It’s just really nice to see a drive within a small student body of people who want to spread service and awareness,” Cole said.
