MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink) -- The Ball State Women’s Tennis Team began their fall season on Friday with the 3rd Annual Bethany Moore Invitational, held at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center on Ball State’s campus. The Cardinals are looking to defend their MAC Championship this season after claiming the title a year ago.
The Cardinals competed against UW-Milwaukee, Eastern Michigan University, Tiffin University, Youngstown State University and Oakland University. The Cardinals took eight of the 10 singles championship slots, and all four doubles teams advanced in the winner’s bracket.
The invitational was held in honor of Bethany Moore, a former Ball State women’s tennis player from 2012-2016, who died in a car accident in October 2017. It’s the 3rd year of the invitational, and Head Coach Max Norris explained what Moore meant to the program as a whole.
“Bethany was very honest, she’s very loyal. She always told you what was on her mind and she was a true Cardinal.”
The Cardinals look to keep the momentum going this weekend at the Eastern Michigan Invite in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
