Prosecutors object a conviction change for a former Ball State professor who plead guilty to the possession of child pornography.
Robert E. Yadon, former professor of Information and Communication Sciences and director of the Applied Research Institute, was arrested in June 2016 and convicted in July 2017. Yadon was arrested after the Ball State University Police Department and Indiana State Police Cyber Crime Unit found pornographic searches and photographs that depicted children younger than 16 engaging in sexual conduct.

Delaware Circuit Court 3 Judge Linda Ralu Wolf imposed a prison statement for Yadon in 2018, which she suspended and instead put him on probation for two years. Wolf denied his request to reduce his conviction to a misdemeanor at the time.
Last week, Yadon asked Wolf to reconsider reducing his conviction again so he can support himself and his family. Deputy Prosecutor Maricel Driscoll rejected the proposal to reduce the conviction because she said the code for reductions doesn't apply to defendants who are sex offenders.
Yadon is required to stay on the Indiana Sex or Violent Offender Registry through April 2028.
