VINCENNES, Ind.(NewsLink) -- As the eligible age to get a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine drops to 16 and older in Indiana, more high school and college students across the state are rushing to get their doses.
But for those waiting on their second dose, the question remains: What now?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people are likely to experience minor side effects such as a sore arm or low-grade fever, however these usually aren't indications that you are infected with the virus.
Experts recommend you drink plenty of fluids and rest as the side effects may take 24 to 48 hours to fully take their course.
Bernado Malone is a student at Vincennes University and recently got the first dose of the Moderna vaccine.
"I really only had two side effects which was just a slight headache and then my arm was hurting for a couple days. A lot of people don't want to get the shot just because of the side effects," said Malone.
So, you're fully vaccinated. What about those masks? Are you still required to wear them? The CDC says that masks are still recommended to slow the spread of the virus saying, "We're still learning how vaccines affect the spread of COVID-19. After you've been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you should keep taking precautions like wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces."
Malone says, "So even though people are getting the vaccine like myself, I'm still wearing my mask around people. How do I know if the next person is vaccinated or how do I even know if that person is not carrying something already?"
And those vaccine record cards? Experts say you shouldn't post them on social media. These cards issued by the CDC contain sensitive personal info which can be used to steal your identity.
