MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink) -- A Muncie woman is giving back by helping chop away a problem that's hurting some people.
Krista Sides, owner of Chameleon Salon, was at the Muncie Mission on Monday and wants to be there for its residents.
"We love to come to the mission and give people some love," said Sides.
One snip at a time, Slide and one of her stylists, Wyatt Scheied sent piles of hair to the floor one snip at a time. Snips that residents said they needed.
"It was starting to curl," said Charles, who goes by Chucky. "A lot of us have been needing a haircut."
With the hair sliding down his cape and the feeling hope about his new clean look, Chucky said he still has a long way to go.
"We all have addictions so that's why they come," said Chucky. "They want to get better, they want their lives back on track."
"I love having normal conversations and learning about others," said Sides.
The experience brought a good feeling to residents. For some, it was something new.
"I just feel good and cleaned up," said Daniel, who's a resident at Muncie Mission. "I haven't had anyone cut my hair in 15 years."
As people at the Muncie Mission have new haircuts, Sides hopes it can be a turning point for them.
"Keep pushing through those obstacles and keep putting yourself out there to meet new people who can help you along the way," said Sides. "That's what I come here for."
Sides said her salon opened back in 2008 and has focused on giving back ever since then. Chucky and Daniel said they're grateful and hope to be able to get back out on their own soon.
