MUNCIE, Ind.(NewsLink) -- After clinching the Sectional Championship last weekend, Cowan now has their sights set on South Newton in the regional semifinals.
Coach Hill believes that the passion and heart she wanted from her team was on full display throughout sectionals. She was adamant that that heart is vital in their quest to repeat as 1A State Champions.
With a tough slate of opponents ahead of them, Cowan will have to continue to grind through long matches. They showed this last Saturday, prevailing in a 5-set match with Wes-Del in the championship.
Hill stated that her team must, “understand that in five set matches, any point can be the deciding factor. And so, we’ve learned to have a level head and kind of bring it in together and communicate a lot better. Those five set matches, I think, have really prepared us for this state tournament.”
Hill also mentioned that the team’s defense was much improved from previous matches, something that will have to elevate even more for continued success. Cowan will kick off regionals this Saturday at Clinton Central High School, starting at noon.
