MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink) -- After two years of planning and building, North Dining is open for the 2020-2021 school year.
Students who go to North Dining, located near the Johnson Complex, can find items like calzones, pulled pork and even a brand-new Starbucks.
Karen Adkins oversees Ball State Dining Services and say she feels like students will make this dining hall the newest hot spot on campus.
"It is really one of the places that speaks to the campus community," said Adkins.
Adkins has been a key part of the planning process and said opening went well, despite some minor hiccups.
"We've had a few bumps with equipment," said Adkins. "When you've had equipment sitting for a couple months, we've had a few bumps but overall it's been a great opening."
However, one thing Adkins couldn't anticipate was the opening day coming in the middle of a global pandemic.
"It gave us time to plan and prepare, to get the new normal to what we needed it to be," said Adkins.
As things are up and running in BSU's new dining hall, people including Adkins are taking time to find their favorite item on the menu.
"Pulled pork bbq nachos," said Adkins. "They have it every Friday and so far I have not avoided it on Fridays."
North Dining is open seven days a week. Adkins said she expects some changes could come to the facility because of what they've learned so far.
