MUNCIE, Ind.(NewsLink) - A Ball State student organization group is hosting an event called Senior Sweetheart.
Student Voluntary Service's Senior Sweetheart is an event that brings love and care to older residents in Muncie. VP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Taylor Thomas plays a large role in SVS and the event.
“It’s a day about getting to know and talking a lot with them because many of them don’t have families and visitors that will come to see them,” stated Thomas.
During this event, students will play games, such as bingo, and hand out Valentine’s Day gifts. One of the few gifts that many of the senior residents enjoy is tied blankets that the volunteers will make for the residents.
“Being able to contribute to the Muncie community means a lot to me because I love seeing what we can do together” said Thomas.
The main purpose of SVS is to give back to the community and being able to bring the community together, to show love and care to those that don’t get to receive it every single day.
The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 8, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehab.
