Muncie Community Schools (MCS) faculty, essential staff members and community stakeholders alongside Ball State administrators will be taking part in an Academic Innovation Summit.
The two-day summit will take place Wednesday and Thursday at the Horizon Convention Center in downtown Muncie, and will feature keynote speeches by education leaders around the country.
Outcomes from the summit will inform the "Academic Innovation and Financial Viability Plan," which is due to the Indiana legislature in June 2020 and serves as a guide for the future of MCS, according to a Ball State press release.
The joint MCS-Ball State Academic Innovation Council have already started gathering input from MCS teachers, parents, national experts and the community for this plan, but will continue gathering input from to generate a "thoughtful, data-driven approach to this innovative civic-university partnership," the press release states.
Keynote speakers include George Couros, educator and author, Jennifer Blatz, CEO of StriveTogether, national movement for student success, and Robert Jackson, education consultant and author.
The schedule of events include presentations on specific subjects to help assist MCS educators.
